I installed Cygwin version 1.5.25-15 on my Windows XP machine and tried installing Cygwin IRAF version 2.14.1. After running the install script I got these errors:
Creating special graph cap file
copy: command not foundChecking alloc.e permissions
chown:changing ownership of 'home/iraf/iraf/iraf/unix/bin.cygwin/alloc.e
:invalid argumentCreating IRAF command links in local user bin dir...
*** Could not make link ecl -> /home/iraf/iraf/iraf/unix/ecl.eAny help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you install the 'tcsh' shell as part of the Cygwin setup? The install script (and most of the iraf command scripts) require this to operate. I'm a bit confused by your errors, e.g. when creating the graphcap file the script uses the 'cp' command, not 'copy'. Is it possible you've got some sort of alias defined or was the error message not literal? The alloc.e error you can ignore since tape drives aren't supported under Cygwin anyway (assuming you even have one). The command links *are* a problem, and are done using the 'ln' command to create the link. This should be part of the basic cygwin setup, but do a "which ln" in a cygwin window to see whether you can find it properly.-Mike
