TO: iraf@noao.eduDear Sir or Madam,I recently learned that you keep your VMS IRAF distribution
on a UNIX machine which is used for FTP.We at Research Systems have an image processing product called
IDL, which is available in both VMS and UNIX versions. We keep
a VMS backup accessible via SPAN, and the UNIX versions on an
internet node for access using FTP. Jim Pendleton from GRO/OSSE (Northwestern University) suggested
that I ask you about the utilities you use to place your VMS
version in a compressed tar file on an internet node. Would
