Hi, I really hope someone can help.

I am using Iraf v2.16.1 for Linux 64 bit. I am using the stsdas.analysis.isophote task to fit elliptical isophotes to galaxies. However I need the stsdas.sobsolete.elapert task for the rest of my analysis.

I already have the STSDAS package (v3.16) installed, however the sobsolete directory is completely empty.

I found the following instructions in a older post (https://iraf.net/forum/viewtopic.php?showtopic=137468)
(1) cd /iraf/extern/stsdas/ # go to STSDAS package
(2) mkpkg -p stsdas 'linux64'
(3) cd pkg # go to pkg subdirectory
(4) mkpkg -p stsdas -p tables sobsolete # build it

\$this->_split2($m[0])\$this->_split2($m[0]) However after step (2) I get the following error:
envinit: cannot open `/iraf/iraf/extern/stsdas/stsdaslib/zzsetenv.def'
Warning, mkpkg line 0: cannot open `stsdas$lib/mkpkg.inc'
Warning, mkpkg line 247: could not find mkpkg module or label `linux64'
Warning, mkpkg line 247: no entry in mkpkg file for `linux64'

Do anyone have any suggestions or a solution?

I was able to pull the code from an old version of STSDAS and put the tarball at

ftp://iraf.noao.edu/pub/sobsolete.tar.gz

Download in binary mode and unpack in the 'stsdas' root directory, it will copy the binary to bin.linux and install the missing stsdas$pkg/sobsolete directory. The code declaring the package is still in place so once this is done you should be able to use the task again.

The code appears to have been removed due to the Numerical Recipes licensing issues.

Not sure where it went..... Do you likewise need the 64-bit linux version?

I need both 64bit and 32bit linux version for two, different computers.

I forgot for a minute there is only a 32-bit version for STSDAS .... Anyway, I've restored the file to

ftp://iraf.noao.edu/pub/sobsolete-linux.tar.gz

Download in binary mode an untar in the stsdas toplevel directory, it will install both binary and source.

It solved my problem, thank you very much!
