You'll need the STSDAS package installed first of all, otherwise it should be available already. If you installed a binary release that doesn't contain the binary (i.e. you get a "cannot open connected subprocess" message) then you can build it directly for use using e.g.[code:1:ff3bc04536]
% cd /iraf/extern/stsdas/ # go to STSDAS package
% mkpkg -p stsdas <arch> # reset arch to 'redhat', 'linux', etc
% cd pkg # go to pkg subdirectory
% mkpkg -p stsdas -p tables sobsolete # build it
[/code:1:ff3bc04536]This assumes you're either using the 'iraf' user login or else have $iraf and $IRAFARCH defined in your .cshrc for development.Hope this helps,
-Mike

Jay,What five .gz files and from where?? I'm not too familiar with SciSoft, but within IRAF you should be able do to something like [code:1:524b49489b]
cl> cd iraf$
cl> path
[/code:1:524b49489b]to get the host-level pathname for the iraf root directory. Go up one level (e.g. "cd ..") and you should see an 'extern' directory for the external packages. If STSDAS is already installed it should be in there but may not include the SOBSOLETE binaries and you'll need to build those according to the earlier mail (where 'arch' is either 'macintel' or 'macosx' depending on PPC or Intel respectively). There may also be a separate installation for it as part of SciSoft, you'll have to check. The scisoft folks can probably also answer questions, perhaps somebody on this forum also knows the details.-Mike
