I have two new iMac workstations running 10.6.5. I have downloaded & installed IRAF without issue. Upon issuing the cl command, I get the following:ERROR: Cannot change directory to `Loading'
called as: `chdir (Loading)'
called as: `cl ()'
called as: `cl ()'
Error while reading login.cl file - may need to rebuild with mkiraf
Fatal startup error. CL dies.Rebuilding with mkiraf gives the same result. I have been using IRAF for 10+ years, and have earlier versions running on both 10.4 and 10.5 platforms. But 10.6 and 2.15 aren't seeming to agree very well. Have I missed something? Thanks -

An error like this usually means your shell is printing something to the terminal when started. At startup, the CL does the dynamic package loading using the hlib$extpkg.cl script that in turn relies on shell escapes for certain commands that aren't yet defined to the CL (e.g. "!pwd") to get the current path.I think what's happening is that the '!pwd' is causing some message like "Loading ...." to be printed and that is being used in the script instead of the directory path. Check for an alias of the 'pwd' command, and/or source your .cshrc/.bashrc file and make sure these don't print any messages. Write back if you still have problems.

Indeed, what a simple fix. Thanks so much -
