I have a simple question. If I define a local task and put it into the loginuser.cl file, I don't see it in the main menu when IRAF prints the login screen, yet if I define the task directly at the ECL> it appears to load and I can see it at the main menu. I get no errors when I have the task defined in the loginuser.cl file. The task is defined as follows in the loginuser.cl filetask $foo = /home/xxx/iraf/foo/foo.cland if I type this in at the ECL prompt IRAF recognizes the task without error. What am I doing wrong . Tasks defined in the loginuser.cl file go into the 'user' package, what you see at the login screen is the main 'cl' package. Use the cmd[code:1:4cb77df53d]cl> ?user[/code:1:4cb77df53d]to list the contents of the user package. Note that if you'd declared the task after loading e.g. the onedspec package it would appear in that menu, so task declarations go into the current package, not strictly the 'cl' package.-Mike
