Hi Mike,I thought things were going OK, but since I installed 'fuzzy' I've had
another problem that may or may not be related; The path to my image directory is specified in my login.cl as set imdir = "iraf/imdirs/Nick" which used to work fine until this weekend. Now, when using display, I have to type in the whole path name e.g display /iraf/imdirs/Nick image.fits to display an image, whereas before all I had to do was type in the image name. Do you have any ideas on whats going on? Again, I'm running iraf 2.13Beta2 (downloaded from MacSingularity)
on my G4. Thanks in anicipation Nick

Nick,The 'imdir' is only used for IMH format images (to store .pix files), for FITS files it isn't relevant but you do need to be in the same directory as the images to avoid specifying a path. Try doing[code]
cl> cd /iraf/imdirs/Nick
cl> display image.fits 1orcl> display imdir$image.fits 1
[code]Also, your 'imdir' is required to have a trailing '/' character to be valid, and in your case you appear to be missing the leading '/' as well.-Mike

Doh! Yes, of course, I have to be in the image directory to display the image without specifying a path, I seem to have forgotten that - thanks! and I do have the trailing "/" I accidently left it off. thanks Mike. Nick
