I've seen several posts in these forums regarding the MSCZERO error that occurs when 'z' is pressed:'Cursor position not in an image'I followed the suggestions posted previously, including trying several versions of DS9 and using the> set disable_wcs_maps=""
> flprprotocol. Neither of these worked for me. However, when I set the DATASEC header in my images (previously, only CCDSEC and DETSEC were set), the problem was solved (in combination with the 'set disable. . . ' commands).Just thought I would mention this for anyone else who searches this forum for an answer to this problem.Best wishes,
Dave Rupke

Thanks for posting this additional fix. I am also having this problem with CTIO MOSAICII data, and the new version of ds9 + set disable fix does not work for me.I would like to try the solution of adding the DATASEC keyword to my headers, but I am unsure what to set the value of this keyword to.Should I set DATASEC to be the same as DETSEC?Many thanks,Jonathan Hargis

Hello,
I should have posted sooner, but I was able to get this fixed without worrying about the DATASEC issues. My problem was that I was not being careful about doing things in the correct order, and until I did things as per below, I could not get msczero to work. Assuming you have a relatively recent version of ds9 (I'm using v4.13):1.) Logout of IRAF and close ds9
2.) Restart ds9 and IRAF
3.) Before doing anything else issue the commands
ecl> set disable_wcs_maps=””
ecl> flprAt this point msczero should be functional. Hope this helps!
