Hello,
I am running IRAF v 2.13 beta 2 on a macintel. When I try to load daophot, it comes up with an error message:ERROR: task 'tables' has no param file
"if (defpar ("tables.motd")) {"
line 6: daophot$daophot.cl
callled as: 'daophot ()'And if I try to load photcal it gives a similar error message. Did my installation get corrupted somehow? I would be very grateful for any help you can give me in resolving this.~Sean

PHOTCAL requires the TABLES package for certain tasks. The error means that you have the TABLES package defined (perhaps/probably because that was left in the hlib$extern.pkg file) but isn't being found properly. A "show tables" will tell you where it thinks the package is installed (probably /iraf/extern/tables), check that it is indeed there. Note that even if you installed pre-built binaries for TABLES you'll also need the source in order to get the parameter files.Cheers,
-Mike

Hi Mike,
Well, you were right about what IRAF thinks the path is, but that path doesn't actually exist on this computer, apparently. What's more, I searched for the files that IRAF says it needs (daophot$daophot.cl, photcal$photcal.cl, etc.) and apparently those don't exist on this computer either. My installation was done via an installer downloaded from macsingularity.org. Is there an easy way to get and install the missing packages or should I try a fresh install? Thanks
~Sean

You should be able to use the PAGE task with either logical name and see the file.[quote:bf442e278b]My installation was done via an installer downloaded from macsingularity.org. [/quote:bf442e278b]I believe that site also has pkg installers for the TABLES package, if they did it right it should unpacked in the right place, otherwise the source and binaries are available from the Downloads link on this site as compressed tarballs.-Mike
