Framk, hi!do you remember if the mini-Mo WCS was fixed?
It was 180 degrees incorrect but i seem to remember you fixed it last
year.

Hi Steve,No the WCS in the raw data has never been corrected for the 180
degree rotation, at least not by me. To fix I suggest I get
a recent exposure that might be used to not only correct the rotation
but verify the WCS; i.e. an exposure with a few stars
with some catalog coordinate information. I could change the WCS by
180 degrees if you want. Let me know and I will
make it a priority not to let it slip again.Yours,
Frank

Frank, just a follow-up note to see where you mightbein the fix.
I believe heidi sent you some image to play with.
I ask as we have a "moving object" run starting fri and the observers
know how
to "fix" the WCS in their reductions, but it'd be good if we could
tell them
they need to fix it again (as they did last time_or that we have
fixed in
ourselves.Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve,This fix is a high priority for me but I have an even higher priority
that I promised software to Gemini by Friday. So
my estimate is that I will fix this by a week from Friday but it will
not be fixed by this Friday. So for this run the observers
will have to be made aware that if they want to use the WCS in the
header they need to fix it by using MSCWCS
to rotate by 180 degrees.FrankFrom: Steve Howell <howell@noao.edu>

Frank,
completely understood. Thanks for the fast fix by even next week.
WIYN appreciates it.
I'll tell the observers.

Subject: minimo images - correcting the WCS
Hi Frank.Steve Howell mentioned you needed some images with MiniMo to correct
the 180degree error in the WCS. Abi Saha has some images on Taurus
(see below). Let me know if you need other images or anything else.Thanks for doing this!

To: Heidi Schweiker <heidis@noao.edu>Hi Heidi, Go to ftp/pub/saha/WCSThere are 3 files: NGC2419.fits -- this is ***correctly*** WCS calibrated. 2 other exposures with MIMO: n3122.fits and n3126.fits (5 and
100s exposures in R respectively) on Oct 9, 2003.
these have the WCS inserted by the WIYN header maker (i.e.
incorrect).
Cheers

Hi,I have redone a new WCS solution based on Abi's NGC2419 exposure. In
addition to possibly having a more accurate WCS this fixes the 180
deg rotation error. The changes have been made on sand which I
believe is the normal MiniMo DCA machine. The changes are purely to
a few WCS values so it is unlikely that any error was introduced but
someone should check that no error appear in the DCA window when the
next exposure is taken. To verify the change took place an image
header listing of the first extension should show:CRPIX1 = 2068.91982855716 / Coordinate reference pixel
CRPIX2 = 1920.96807176208 / Coordinate reference pixel
CD1_1 = 1.62689552048809E-7 / Coordinate matrix
CD2_1 = 3.90504284674072E-5 / Coordinate matrix
CD1_2 = 3.90562210107738E-5 / Coordinate matrix
CD2_2 = -1.9498698587866E-7 / Coordinate matrixI apologize for not having done something about this sooner.FrankFrom: Steve Howell <howell@noao.edu>
