Hi Peter,
The information in the FAQ is sadly out of date. The latest
release of IRAF V2.12.2 will work just fine on newer linux systems.
The files you need are available from ftp://iraf.noao.edu/iraf/v212/PCIXSee the README file for details and let us know if you have any problems.Cheers,

In case you haven't already tried it out yet: Yes, IRAF V2.12.2
should work under SuSE 9.3. If you have any problems let us know.Cheers,
