Dear Sir/Madam,I am using X11IRAF and need to work with GEMINI V1.8. I would like to
know if I should upgrade to/install the V2.12.2a or not. I appreciate it
if you could please answer my question.Regards,

Hi Soheila,
IRAF V2.12.2a is in fact required for GEMINI V1.8. The standard
distribution right now is V2.12.2 for all platforms, the patch-2a was
released only for a few select systems. The files you need (to patch
or do a fresh install) can be found in the "patch2a" subdirectory of the
iraf distribution directories on ftp://iraf.noao.edu/iraf/v212/PCIX (or SSOL)You mention X11IRAF, I'm assuming this was a typo since those are the
image display/graphics terminal tools, it is the core IRAF that is
