[quote:c2d034e8ec]epar rfits
inp bias01.fits
out bias01r.fits [/quote:c2d034e8ec]I'm confused because the RFITS task doesn't have an "inp" or "out" parameter, but the error is definitely coming from the RFITS task. I also don't know why you'd be running RFITS on a FITS image, can you provide more details?-Mike

ok Mike, soryPACKAGE = dataio
TASK = rfitsfits_fil= bias01.fits FITS data source
file_lis= File/extensions list
iraf_fil= bias01r.fits IRAF filename
(make_im= yes) Create an IRAF image?
(long_he= no) Print FITS header cards?
(short_h= yes) Print short header?
(datatyp= ushort) IRAF data type
(blank = 0.) Blank value
(scale = yes) Scale the data?
(oldiraf= no) Use old IRAF name in place of iraf_file?
(offset = 0) Tape file offset
(mode = ql)
:go
And return me:
Unable to open parameter file `uparm$daorfits.par'.
ERROR: T_RFITS: Undefined output file name

I'm still confused (it's late here), why are you trying to run RFITS on the 'bias01.fits' image when you can use it as-is? You shouldn't be seeking that error unless the 'iraf_file' param is an empty string.-Mike

An 'Error reading image' could be a permissions problem or a corrupted FITS file. Are you sure this is a valid image?-Mike

Type "ls -al" in a terminal to see the file permissions (first column) and "man chmod" to see how to change them so you can work with the files as a normal user. Working as su routinely is a bad idea. It could be the files or the directory itself (.) that needs permissions changing.James.
