All -I had no problems getting IRAF installed under Redhat Enterprise V5 (64-bit). However -- like others have noticed -- I cannot seem to get xgterm to run.I downloaded the RedHat binaries (both 1.3 and 1.5 DEV)and I get the error:
[b:bbb0a416de]xgterm: error while loading shared libraries: libXmu.so.6: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64[/b:bbb0a416de]Also, when I run "ldd xgterm", I get:
linux-gate.so.1 => (0xffffe000)
[b:bbb0a416de]libXmu.so.6 => not found[/b:bbb0a416de]
libXt.so.6 => /usr/lib/libXt.so.6 (0xf7f89000)
libSM.so.6 => /usr/lib/libSM.so.6 (0x00487000)
libICE.so.6 => /usr/lib/libICE.so.6 (0x00447000)
libXext.so.6 => /usr/lib/libXext.so.6 (0x009af000)
libX11.so.6 => /usr/lib/libX11.so.6 (0x009f9000)
libncurses.so.4 => /usr/lib/libncurses.so.4 (0xf7f3f000)
libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x0011a000)
libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x00baa000)
libXau.so.6 => /usr/lib/libXau.so.6 (0x00143000)
libXdmcp.so.6 => /usr/lib/libXdmcp.so.6 (0x00148000)
libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x00dee000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x00b8d000)but of course the file is actually there (symbolically linked to /usr/lib64).Has anyone got a fix to this yet?- Jonathan

Of course not 10 minutes after I posted this I got a fix:(1) I installed the 32-bit libraries for RedHat Enterprise V4 (xorg-x11-libs-6.8.2-1.EL.19.i386.rpm) which I got from the RedHat Network. The .rpm file installed just fine, despite my thinking that it would conflict with the existing 64-bin libraries.(2) That gave me the "no available ptys" error, so I downloaded the patch from http://iraf.noao.edu/new_stuff/xgterm_fedora.html.This worked just fine, and now I'm up-and-running.- Jonathan

I can't find a 64-bit machine at the moment, but you can try building from the latest sources at https://iraf.net/ftp/iraf/x11iraf/x11iraf-v1.5DEV-src.tar.gz Just unpack in some directory and do a 'xmkmf' followed by a "make World" Otherwise you may need to install additional 32-bit compatability RPMs but I can't say off-hand exactly which ones.-Mike
