Hello Claudia,The situation gets a little confused because of different versions of
XImtool and DS9 that people use. The cursor readback depends on
certain behaviors of the display servers. It is likely you are using
DS9 which does not correctly implement a response to IRAF about its
capabilities. There is an easy fix: cl> set disable_wcs_maps=""
cl> flprYou can also put the set command in your login.cl or loginuser.cl.Let me know if this does not fix your problem and at the same time
tell be what display server you are using. For DS9 it is a recent
version that has the problem.Yours,
Frank

Hi!I'm having the same issues with msczero that it sounds like Claudia is having. I tried the solution Frank suggested with no success. The version of saoimage I'm using is 4.0b11. I'm having a hard time finding an earlier version. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Melissa,AFAIK the cursor problem should have been fixed in the v4.0b7 release of DS9 a while back. It may have been reintroduced, but there is now a 4.0b12 release available in the SAO archives (ftp://sao-ftp.harvard.edu/pub/rd/ds9). I have an old v3.0.1 release for linux I could put someplace for you, what platform are you using?-Mike

Hi Mike:I've tried the newest version of ds9 (4.0b12) with the same null result (ie, cursor not in image). I'm running fedora core 2, i386. the older version of ds9 would be wonderful if it's not too much trouble. I didn't have this problem until I upgraded the computer (and all the programs on it as a result). Thanks!
Melissa
