As a little Open IRAF lark (and since I wanted a task for this purpose) I set
up a little task on tucana called "daytime". You type e.g. % daytime stsci.eduto find out what time it is at host stsci.edu, or any other host on the
Internet. This is useful for determining what time it is some where in the
world, if you know a machine name at that site, e.g. when you want to send
someone email. (whether or not this actually works for a given host
depends on the configuration of the remote host). The trick is that this appears to be a Unix utility but actually it is an
IRAF task. The source is in fio$zzdebug.x. The binary is local/bin.
