Dear Dr. Valdes,I am Ms. T. Sivarani from Indian Institute of Astrophysics - we had met when
you had come here - but you might not remember me I suppose.I have been facing some difficulties of late while using the IRAF and had some
queries. The problem I am facing is as follows: We know that the command for "flat-field"-ing is APNORM.
The HELP for APNORM states that this command will remove
the spectral signatures of the source used for the flat
spectrum. The flat spectrum that I have obtained is from a Xenon
source and there are some absorption features in it. When I divide my object spectrum by that of the flat, I
am getting some emission features wherever there is an
absorption line in the "flat-field"-ed spectrum (though
the function which was fit using APNORM looked okay). So what I want to know is whether : there is some parameter which has to be changed in APNORM
OR
there is an altogether different command in lieu of the same.I hope to not have inconvenienced you with my questions and thank you
very much for the kind attention you will be giving my problems. Regards,
SivaraniP.S. My e-mail address is "sivarani@iiap.ernet.in"
