Hi All,Our 8k x 8k CCD is here for testing and will be available for general use
early next year. I would like to know if there is any inherent problems
for IRAF to handle such large images, perhaps some internal buffer size?
Also any advice or comments will be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Pui Hin Rhoads

Pui Hin,
Off hand I can't think of any IRAF limitations you would have with
such a large image. If the chip has multiple readouts the reduction might
not be as straight forward but Frank Valdes has done some experiments in
that area and can comment further if this is the case. Where possible
most IRAF tasks try to handle the image one line at a time but you should
probably still stack the machine with memory and swap space to avoid any
out of memory errors. Hope this helps, write back if I've left anything
out.Cheers,
-Mike
