Dear Sir/Madame:I have an IRAF question. I want to plot my data in a 3-D form. The only
task I know for this purpose is SURFACE. However, it seems for this task
I cannot control the size of the plot, nor can I put axes, labels and marks.
I wonder if there are some other IRAF tasks that can make a 3-D plot. Thank you in advance. Sincerely,Zheng

Zheng,
The IRAF graphics system is currently only 2D so tasks like SURFACE
are a special case (it uses special code form the NCAR graphics library).
We've done some experiments with 3-D plotting routines as an R&D project
but this code isn't integrated in the system for regular use, and isn't
complete. What sorts of plotting other than surface plots were you inter-
ested in (isosurface, vector fields, solid surface)??
It is possible to put axes on the SURFACE task by turning on the
'label' parameter. The 'angh' and 'angv' parameters control the viewing
angle, but there is no parameter to "zoom" the image. There is an external
package available from our archive named VOL for doing volume rendering
of 3-D data cudes. This may or may not apply to your data but I'd be happy
to send you more information about it if you're interested.Regards,
Mike Fitzpatrick
