Dear Jeannette,
We have taken with FTP IRAF for our HP Apollo 720, wich has OS 8. on it.
Though the mashine is gray scale, the image that I can see on SAO imtool
looks like the image one expects on a bit mapped screen.
When running HP IRAF remotely on our SPARC station, both the gray scale
and coloured images appear as they should.
The colour bar appears as well and one can change the contrast and
see the changes in the colour bar.
In the case when I rub IRAF directly on the gray scale Apollo screen
this colour bar, does not show up and i can not change the contrast.
Could you please help us with this problem?

Hello Kyra -I am sorry that no one has answered your mail yet. I am not sure what
to ask you to help you debug your problem. Our SAOimage expert is not
here right now but should be back after the holiday. I will direct your
