Dear Jeannette,
We have acquired a CDROM reader and connected it to one of the nodes
on the IRAF network.
In order to read fits files on CDROM thru Iraf, I modified the dev$devices
file to include the new device name
mtc sr0
(since cdrom is mounted with the following command
mount -rt hsfs /dev/sr0 /vusr1/cdrom)
then gave the allocate command as
allocate venus!mtc
(so far so good)
but
rfits venus!mtc
did not go thru. It gave the message "cannot rewind device venus!mtc ..."Is there a special way to use the cdrom? Or have I defined it wrongly?
