Hello -en I was dumping a plot to an HP Laser printer
with :.snap I recieved the following error messageokWarning: SGK_grapcs output dispose erro{Then my SPARC hung completely (with a console message
can't allocate memory in pw_save_pixels). Is this a
conflict with the system (or don't I have enough[{
machine memory?)We haverelease verion v29. Note we where dumping plot
to the printer for hours before incountering this
problem. There was no one else utilizing the CPU whenwhen the plo{ was requested.Thanks Chick Woodward (sorry about the transmissionw3 glithes

Chick, The console message probably indicates insufficient swap space, not
memory. We recommend a minimum of 16 MB swap space or twice the memory,
whichever is greater. You can monitor system load with such UNIX tools
as ps -aux, top, and pstat -s to see if resources are being overloaded.
Since you were successfully making plots before this happened, I'd say
this was not an IRAF configuration problem. Unless... check the /tmp
area (or wherever your IRAF tmp$ area is) for SGI related files that may
not be getting deleted. If there is no space in /tmp to generate the
PostScript file you may get such an error. Typically, the DD string in
graphcap deletes the PS file after processing by lpr; make sure your DD
string includes an rm $F command. So, I'd investigate the error being
caused by either insufficient swap or disk space.Suzanne
