 Troubles in FOCAS installation

The installation Guido of FOCAS recomends to make a copy from
the ./oldimageio/*.c and ./oldimageio/Makefile to .
(%cp oldimageio/*.c oldimageio/Makefile .)After we do: %make ALL >& make.log&, the logfile make.log shows a lot of
error messages from the C compiler. We have examined the contents of both
the imageio.c file and Makefile in ./oldimageio and we have noted that
the contents of the both files are exactely the same! The contents of
imageio.c seems to be of a Makefile contents. Then we tried the same with the files of ./irafimageio, and we have got the
following error message:xc -h -O -/DKNET avfld.o imlib.a -limfort -lsys -lvops -los -o avfldld: -lU77: No such file or directory
***Error 8
make: fatal error: Command failed for target 'avfld'Can you give us a solution about this? The F77 we have does not come from an extract unbundled tape. It is merely
a copy from the Sparc of I. Buscko. Many thanks,J.L. Kohl

The first thing we have to determine is whether you intend to use FOCAS by
itself (standalone) or in conjunction with an IRAF installation. Though
you don't say I have found that in the version of the software intended for
an IRAF installation (focas2.tar.Z) that the source code for the non-IRAF
installation, oldimageio/imageio.c, is as you say. This is a mistake in
the distribution. If you want the standalone configuration of FOCAS you
can either get the file focas1.tar.Z or, what might be simpler for you, I can
e-mail the correct file to you.If you want to use FOCAS in conjunction with IRAF then you should be
using the Makefile and imageio.c from the irafimageio directory (which
has already been setup in the file focas2.tar). In that case you don't
need the contents of oldimageio. Your problem is then in compiling the
software where you are getting the ld error. If you tell us that is
what you want then someone else can try and help you get the
fortran/xc libraries setup properly. So please reply with the answers to the following questions:1. Did you intend to use FOCAS standalone, independent of an IRAF installation,
or with IRAF?
2. If you are going to use FOCAS without IRAF do you want the missing source
code e-mailed to you or can you retrieve the file focas1.tar.Z from the
ftp archive at iraf.noao.edu?Yours,
Frank ValdesPlease reply to iraf@noao.edu or NOAO::IRAF (5355::IRAF).
