Hello Jeannette, how is life there?
This message is first to inform you that people here are ALL turning to IRAF
and start to abandon MIDAS. I have installed IRAF also on the Ultrix
Decstation and, with the great help of Suzanne Jacoby, I have now also
RV and TESTPHOT running on it.
I have also a couple of question that perhaps you can answer:
1) the first is easy: are you progressing with the manuals?
2) I have access to the Einstein satellite X-ray database. They are using
a FITS format that they call FITS-A3D. As I understand it, it is a way
to store several images in a single fits file. The file has a first
header that says (among other things) NCOLUMNS 0, then is followed by
other headers that refer (I guess) to the various images. Now, do
you know if IRAF can RFITS them? I tryed, but it stops at the first
header and finding NCOLUMN 0 says that no pix file is created.
