Randy Campbell called the hotline from SAIC in San Diego; he also a student
at SDSU. The folks at SAIC recently recently upgraded their Sun-3 to 4.1.1
and upon re-installing IRAF discovered that the noao package tasks would not
run. This turned out to be because bin directories were set up wrong (for
both iraf root and noao it turned out, but a link saved them in the iraf
root), although he claimed to have installed from a tape from NOAO.I helped him set up the bin, bin.generic, and bin.f68881 directories the
canonical way, and he was off and running. They are using OpenWindows and
inquired about SAOimage, and I suggested that he pick up the new version
as long as he was doing all this installation stuff.
