Hello Steve -There are no current plans to port IRAF to a 386 or 486 PC, either under
DOS or UNIX.The problem, as it has been explained to me by our systems people, is that
everything is a third party option on a PC, so that every PC configured
to run UNIX and IRAF would be unique. So even if we did have a port to
one system the probability would be very high that it would not run on another.The PC port may not be cost effective either. By the time you buy all
the necessary hardware to run IRAF, you will probably have spent enough
to buy a workstation. Please note, however, that we are completing a port to the MacII running
under A/UX. We expect this port to be available to sites by the end
