Hi!
I am trying to write a program in cl that will call fortran subroutines.
Could you please tell me tahe way to do this or where I could get some
information about this?
Thanks for your help,

Tarun,
If by "write a program in cl", you mean a cl script, there is no way
to call a fortran subroutine directly, as cl scripts are interpreted, while
fortran routines are compiled. Most likely you want to do one of the
following: [1] (easiest for someone new to iraf): write a fortran program using
the IMFORT library. See the manual titled "A User's Guide to
Fortran Programming in IRAF -- The IMFORT Interface", in Vol. 1A
of the IRAF blue manuals. There are several examples that should
be easy to follow. You can then declare the task as a foreign
task (described in the manual) and invoke it from your CL script,
using the clget_ calls in your imfort program to pass small numbers
of variables into it from the script. [2] Write an SPP program. This is a bit more involved, but has greater
flexibility and is portable, while imfort programs are not very
portable. There is a variety of spp documentation available, some
of it in the ftp archive, and all of it in the optional two-volume
IRAF System Handbook. Improved user level SPP programming documentation
is being written this year, but is not available yet.Write back if you have further questions.Steve Rooke (iraf@noao.edu)
