Jeanette transferred a call from Lee Hawkins @ Wellesley to me. Lee has a
bunch of Ultrix machines: a VAXstation that is the file/peripheral server,
and some number of DECstations that are clients. He was wanting to set up
IRAF networking so that the DS clients could speak to the VS peripherals,
notably the tape drive(s?). All these machines are at Ultrix v4.1, and we
know there are problems with the kernel server under Ultrix 4, and I guess
he was calling for clarification about this, and whether there was anything
that could be done in the meantime. He asked about the KS kit info, which
I sent him with remarks about it being mostly irrelevant. There are no
IRAF-based workarounds that I could suggest to him, so I guess they will
just have to use `rsh dd...' kinds of things in the meantime.
