We received an IRAF HOTLINE call from Mike R. Jones at Rice Univ. concerning
deblending of spectral lines in IRAF. The SPLOT deblending restricts the
widths of the fitted Gaussians to be the same. In the documentation it says
that this restriction can be lifted. A statement like this probably should
not be in user documentation since it implies that it is an easy change for
a user. I told him this involved code modification. He says his data warrents
the added generality and that he wanted to look at the code. This is
well localized and I told him the procedure which would have to be modified.
He will look at it and feels he or someone in his programming group could
make such modifications. I told him I would be willing to review any
