Hello Bruce, Lindsey Davis has written some IRAF programs to mosaic images. Ian
Gatley gave her alot of input as she was designing the package, and has
used the software with great success to align his IR camera images.
The software is still under development, and not ready for distribution
in an official way. The mosaic program uses the coordinates of common objects in adjacent
frames to calculate the shifts. The easiest way to generate the
coordinate list is to read back coordinates from the displayed image;
here we use the SUN monitor`s `imtool window' to display and read from
the image. Do you have a way to read back cursor positions from your
display? If not, the package would be of limited use to you at this
time, and you would be better off waiting until the IRAF IDI (Image
Display Interface) is in place. If you have an urgent need
for the software, or for more detailed information, contact Lindsey
Davis directly (davis@noao.arizona.edu).Suzanne Jacoby
