Hi,
I got an observation run from a friend, who tested his new SBIG STL-8300c camera. It's the same camera like the ST-8300m but with the color chip.
I got bias frames, flats and darks but I'm not sure if I can do the reduction in the same manner like I'm doing it for the monochrome versions.
Does anybody has some advise how to proceed? Do I have to split those images into channels or is iraf able to do the reduction with RGB fits. That it would be very easy, just having to build the masterfiles and add the reduced images up to one.
I've never used color ccd's before.
cheers,
Christian

Wow, please do not elbow so much...
Since nobody wanted to give first shot, I just started with try&error... sometimes one has to try and see what happends...
I tried and I saw that it doesn't matter how many axis one feeds to combine or ccdproc.
One can reduce RGB-fits like monochrome wihtout having to change one's reduction pipeline.
Last thing to do: Alignment. I think that will be the same.
cheers,
Christian
