Everything was working (that is the parameter files were being written just fine) but then I tried using the command 'epar mskexpr' and when I tried to change dimensions I got an error saying 'Unable to open parameter file `uparm$promskexr.par''. After some searching I realized it was most likely caused by the login.cl file, but after trying to change the login.cl file that still didn't work. What exactly should be placed here:
set home = " "
set imdir = "//"
set uparm = ""
set userid = ""
I read somewhere that it shouldn't be in your home directory that you are working from? I think whatever changes I made were wrong.
So, I changed back to the orignial login.cl file. However, now I am getting the same error with 'splot' and 'display' which I didn't get before, but I am using the same login.cl file as before. So, I don't understand why all of a sudden iraf cannot open these files. I am thinking I should just make a new login.cl file.
I tried just doing 'mkiraf' again to create a new login.cl file but I get an error saying that command is not found. What am I doing wrong here?
Thanks!

The 'home' value is the directory where you ran the MKIRAF to create the login.cl in the first place. The 'uparm' is usually specified as "home$uparm" to indicate it is the 'uparm' subdirectory of the 'home" directory. The 'userid' is your account name (e.g. 'sscibell') and the 'imdir' can be specified as "HDR$pix/" to specify the 'pix' subdirectory of where the headers are located (not used for FITS files). All directory names *must* end with a trailing '/' since they are used to build up other paths.
Since you don't list a 'cache' directory I'm guessing this is a pre-v2.16 version of IRAF? The MKIRAF command is installed in the same location as the 'cl' command used to login, be sure this directory is in your path.
