Hi, I just installed IRAF for Linux 64 on CentOS, and I'm having trouble getting it up and running. I did get a successful installation, but when I attempt to type cl or iraf, it doesn't pull anything up.
I have done the mkiraf command and created an xgterm terminal type, I just don't know where to go from there.
I am completely new to IRAF and fairly new to programming, so I'm definitely struggling.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Deborah

Do you get any sort of error message when you type 'cl' to login, or do you just get the prompt back. If you just get the prompt try running one of the IRAF binaries manually, e.g.
% cd $iraf/bin.linux64
% ldd ./x_system.e
% ./x_system.e
You should see a "\$this->_split2($m[0])" prompt (type 'bye' to quit), otherwise post the error message. The 'ldd' command lists the dynamic libraries required by the binary, be sure there are no "not found" messages in the output.
Lastly, I'm assuming this is the most recent IRAF version from the main NOAO site. Once you run the install script all you should normally need to do is type 'cl' to login in the current window, or 'iraf' to open a new XGterm window running IRAF.
