Hello,I posted the following question last year but still haven't gotten any answer.
I would really appreciate if someone can tell me a solution to this. Thanks,Ping
---------------------------------------------I saw this old post:> we seem to have a problem in some of the Daophot routines
>for some time. Namely in the routines "pstselect" and "psf" the error
>"segmentation violation" quite often occurs, especially when using
>wildcards or lists of images. Often only starting IRAF anew helps solving
>the problem but only for 2 or 3 files, after which the same error occurs
>again. This becomes quite a nuisance if one has to reduce a large data
>set. "Unlearnig" single tasks or the whole Daophot package does not help
>in any way. The problem affects both Linux and DEC Alpha systems. Our
>currently installed IRAF version is "IRAF V2.11 May 1997".
>
>Could you please help us in solving this problem. This is exactly happening to me now. It seems this problem is still not fixed. Is there a solution for this? Thanks,Ping

As far as I can tell, the problem was never specifically resolved because it couldn't be reproduced. You may or may not be seeing the same problem, segmentation faults are a general error message. In order to fix this we will need to know your IRAF version and platform (linux or mac, 32- or 64-bit) as well as have some test data and parameters in order to reproduce the problem. There are no known bugs in the task fixed by recent updates, I apologize for overlooking your earlier post.
