I have recently updated my osx to osx 10.6.8
everything worked just fine,
until today,
today i was trying to run iraf and then i got this message:
/iraf/bin.macintel/ecl.e: Input/output error.
Does anyone knows what this is all about?
i try to reinstall iraf but the script crashes...

The message is coming from the OS and usually indicates a corrupted file/disk, or unfortunately, a failing disk. First thing to try is to run the Disk Utility application for OSX under the Applications->Utilities folders and verify/check/repair the disk. You can also type "sudo /sbin/dmesg" to look for error messages in the system log file. If you have multiple disks on the machine then you can check whether one disk works and the other doesn't, implying one of the disks is failing.Good luck.
