I am having a problem with msctpeak (in Iraf 2.14) and ds9 processing MiniMo data from WYIN when I try to run this from my Mac laptop (SnowLeopard). MiniMo as you may recall produces file with 4 extensions.What happens when msctpeak starts is that there is a problem that starts in this fashion.PANIC in `/usr/stsci/irafx/iraf/bin.macintel/x_tv.e': Memory has been corruptedMarking uncentered catalog sources in red...
all 55 sources will be marked...ERROR: Abnormal termination of child process 'bin$x_tv.e'
"font="raster", tolerance=1.5, interactive-)"
line 7: mscfinder$tvmark_.cl (hidden task)
called as: `tvmark_ (frame=1, coords=tmp$JUNK226a, mark=circle, color=204)'
doneWhen this happens the image from the first frame does not appear in ds9, but the normal cursor symbol appears. One can then issue a q command to msctpeak, and the next extension comes up fine. One can then do the normal things one does with msctpeakHowever the error reappears when you go to the third extension. But everything works fine for the fourth extension.I've tried a couple of things. I've verified that the problem occurs on another Mac Laptop (from a different insituttion) On the other hand, the same procedure does not cause a problem on my RedHat Enterprise 6 desktop back home. I also have verified on my laptop that the problem occurs with ds9 6.1.2 and with some older versions of ds9. I'd be interested if anyone has seen a similar problem or has any idea what the underlying issue is.Thanks,
Knox
