I have IRAF 2.15.1a 64bits on a GNU/Linux Ubuntu system and I get a [b:e6f2534c1b]segmentation violation[/b:e6f2534c1b] when I try to use the [b:e6f2534c1b]fitparams[/b:e6f2534c1b] task.In order to reproduce the error, create in your imdir the file 'ri.stdobs' with the following content:[code:1:e6f2534c1b]sa104_428 r 1.571 15.860 0.02
* i 1.523 15.778 0.02
sa104_428 r 1.458 15.785 0.02
* i 1.506 15.784 0.02
sa104_428 r 1.236 15.778 0.02
* i 1.214 15.719 0.02
sa104_428 r 1.241 15.760 0.02
* i 1.217 15.728 0.02
pg1047+003a r 1.202 16.768 0.02
* i 1.197 16.762 0.02
pg1047+003a r 1.200 16.722 0.02
* i 1.198 16.758 0.02
pg1047+003a r 1.198 16.734 0.02
* i 1.197 16.762 0.02
[/code:1:e6f2534c1b]Then download to your imdir these two files:http://www.ifa.hawaii.edu/~rgal/science/lfcred/sdss_ri.stds
http://www.ifa.hawaii.edu/~rgal/science/lfcred/ristd.configAnd finally execute from IRAF command line (cl):[code:1:e6f2534c1b]
ecl> cd imdir
ecl> noao
noao> digiphot
digiphot> photcal
photcal> fitparams obs=ri.stdobs catalog=imdir$sdss_ri.stds con=imdir$ristd.config par=ri.coef#MON 20:22:42 18-APR-2011
ERROR: segmentation violation
[/code:1:e6f2534c1b]Am I doing something wrong or it could be a bug?Thanks in advance!

This looks like a real bug in the code, i.e. it wasn't properly updated for 64-bit. I should have a fixed binary later today, until then you can use the 32-bit binary from ftp://iraf.noao.edu/ftp/iraf/v215/support/linux/x_photcal.e

Sorry this is taking so long, the changes aren't trivial due to some bizarre data structures used in the task. OTOH, the 32-bit version worked just find for me: Did you copy the binary to the noao$bin.linux64 directory to replace the existing binary or put it in a 'bin.linux' directory (where it wouldn't have been used)??

You're right, I can execute fitparams now using the 32 bits version of ecl.e and x_photcal.e, but with them 'imexamine' produces another segmentation violation and I have to be constantly going back and forth to the old 64 bits or the new 32 bits version.Thanks for your effort trying to solve the problem.
