Hello,I would like to be able to access image information from ds9 using the image cursor, but at the moment I'm hitting two problems, and I think the second might be causing the first.1) When using =imcur, I can't use any of the commands listed under the "cursors" help page. Whenever I type any of command, the cursor just quits out. I'd like to be able to do things like change the wcs that the cursor reads from, but at the moment I can't.2) I have to launch ds9 as an external task, as "!ds9 [image] &". Is there a way to launch ds9 internally from iraf, and make it compatible with =imcur? Thanks for any help you can provide!

I've figured out the first problem on my own, but if anyone could help me out with the second, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

I'm not sure what you mean by "launch it internally". There is no way to have IRAF automatically launch DS9 other than to perhaps write your own script that does the "!ds9" command followed by the cursor read.

I had thought I had seen a setup where the user was able to just type "ds9 &" into the iraf cursor, without the !, but I guess I was mistaken.

You can define DS9 as a 'foreign task' using something like[code:1:de3560f538]task $ds9 = "$foreign"[/code:1:de3560f538]Do this in your login.cl (or add it to the foreign task defs already there, or your loginuser.cl file before the final 'keep' statement. Then a simple "ds9 &" will work, my reply referred to e.g. typing DISPLAY or IMEXAM and having the ds9 spawned automatically if it isn't already running.
