I'm trying to find stars in a crowded field, but regardless of what my parameters are set to, daofind is finding over 300,000 stars . There should be at most 10,000. I've tried changing (what I think are) the relevant parameters, yet it still detects WAY too many stars.
What should I be doing differently?
Or what is the general procedure that I should be following? Can someone explain it to me? (I'm new at this).
