Hallo,I have a 12,000x12,000 pixel mosaic to display, and I am trying to add a new frame buffer size following the directions at http://www.iraf.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=135516&sid=c48e6483b44de4e4ae87c02271a52b06I copied the imtoolrc file in my iraf home directory, and added the line63 1 13000 13000 # imt63|imt13000at the end of it.In the mygraphcap file, I added a new line imt63|imt13000|:cn#63Angryr#13000:yr#13000:\
:LC:BS@:z0#1:zr#200Big GrinD=node!imtool,,13000,13000:tc=iism70:
Then I restarted ds9 and iraf, and typed the commnads: reset graphcap=mydir/mygraphcap
gflush
reset stdimage = imt13000
However, when I try to display my image, I get the following messages in the xgterm window:
......
ximtool: attempted write out of bounds on framebuf
write 13000 bytes at [0,3399]
.......and nothing appears on ds9can anybody help me with that?
I am using Mac OSXthanks!

Does it help if you set the IMTOOLRC environment variable to the path of your new imtoolrc file (or rename it to .imtoolrc)? It looks to me like it isn't being picked up.Cheers,James.

Dear James,I tried with both renaming the imtoolrc file to .imtoolrc, and setting in my login.cl file set IMTOOLRC = "/mydir/.imtoolrc",
but none of the two did work.I also noticed that I am not able to open ds9 from within iraf with the command !ds9 &
may this be somehow connected to the display problem?
many thanks for your help!
Francesca

The ".imtoolrc" file goes in your unix login directory in order to be found. There are several other well-known locations (e.g. /usr/local/lib/imtoolrc) that can be used but this is easiest. The shell escape to start DS9 requires that the path to DS9 be defined in your $path variable in .cshrc (or your .bashrc file). It is not related to the imtoolrc issue.-Mike

Shouldn't that be "export IMTOOLRC" for BASH (or "setenv IMTOOLRC" for csh)?

Oh wait, you said you're setting that in your login.cl file. I was suggesting you put it in your login files (ie. .cshrc, .login, .bashrc or .bash_profile). Also, as Mike says the .imtoolrc should be picked up automatically if you put it in your home directory.
