Hello: I have problems related to how to use old GKI files.
I have a few old GKI files. Now, I want to print them out or save them
into PS format (B&W figures) for publication. I have tried the following:

1) I invoked 'stdgraph'
So, the figure showed on the xgterm graph window.
Then, I invoked '=gcur' command... in order to
use ':.snap'..... However, the figure disappeared!
I think I forgot some setting or something like that..
Please help me!

2) I also tried to use 'stdplot'... I was able to produce
a PS file. However, the background color of surrouding area
of the plotting area is in GREEN. The xtitle and ytitle are
in YELLOW and so on... But I need a B & W figure in PS format.

Would you please me to give me some helps to solve this problem?

Thanks a lot!

Josephine

Try something like[code:1:aceac84f67]cl> stdplot foo.gki dev=psdump
cl> gflush[/code:1:aceac84f67]This will create a file called 'irafdmpXXXX.ps' in the current directory (where 'XXXX' is some process id) that will be a B&W postscript. The 'psdump' device uses the Simple Graphics Interface (SGI) to make the plot, if you were using the STSDAS postscript kernel then this is a full graphics kernel and colors are preserved.-Mike

Hello Mike, Thanks for your information!

I did,

cl> stdplot = foo.gki dev = psdump
cl> gflush

However, I was unable to find the irafdump* file
in the current directory. I do not know whether
it has been stored in a unknown directory or it
has not been created.

Any suggestion! Thanks again!

Josephine

My bad, I meant it will be in /tmp and not the current dir. Reminds me that I need to clean up where all these files end up to be consistent ....-Mike
