Greetings Irafians,
I am trying to use iraf to convert a 2D .fits image (a picture) into an ascii file that is of the format: x,y,value. I hope to then plot this file in gnuplot and draw functions on top of it. I know I can use wtextimage. The problem is that I cannot remember what to set the format to. The real kicker is that I used this before and it went fine, gave me a 3 column ascii file readable by gnuplot and all was great... now I keep getting 10 column stuff. The pixel format is w.d[defgz] which is supposedly also the fortran format, but since I've tried various things, including the default setting, and I haven't yet remembered what it was that I set it too last time, I thought that maybe someone else has also created the three column version of the ascii and has a better memory for format settings than I do. Thanks in advance!

For 3 column output I think you are thinking of the LISTPIXELS task, not WTEXTIMAGE.-Mike
