Hello Mike:I'm running IRAF on [b:780f78e0fe]Fedora[/b:780f78e0fe] 11, and before I used [b:780f78e0fe]Fedora[/b:780f78e0fe] 9 and 10. I always have had the problems reported in these posts: https://iraf.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=86998
https://iraf.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=88809about [i:780f78e0fe]libtermcap.so.2[/i:780f78e0fe] while trying to ran [i:780f78e0fe]ecl[/i:780f78e0fe]. One of your solutions is to install the [i:780f78e0fe]ncurses[/i:780f78e0fe] package, but the problem is that [i:780f78e0fe]ncurses[/i:780f78e0fe] does not contain [i:780f78e0fe]libtermcap.so.2[/i:780f78e0fe].What I made to workaround this issue was to install the package [i:780f78e0fe]libtermcap2[/i:780f78e0fe], which is not in the [b:780f78e0fe]Fedora[/b:780f78e0fe] repositories, but can be found here: http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/4/idpl/1034752/com/libtermcap2-2.0.8-36sls.i586.rpm.htmland this package contains the file [i:780f78e0fe]libtermcap.so.2[/i:780f78e0fe], and everything works fine this way.My question is: why do you suggest to install [i:780f78e0fe]ncurses[/i:780f78e0fe] if there is no [i:780f78e0fe]libtermcap[/i:780f78e0fe] there? Maybe [i:780f78e0fe]ncurses-devel[/i:780f78e0fe]?Thank you very much for your help.
German Racca.

This is all due to the fact that the ECL was supposed to have been built statically and so not required a shared lib for the termcap stuff. The release got out with a dynamic binary and newer versions of linux either use a different shared library, or don't normally install the needed ncurses/termcap stuff by default. The recommendation to install ncurses was based on the fact that libtermcap was in there when the recommendation was first made, thanks for posting an update. In short, installing the statically linked binary at https://iraf.net/ftp/pub/fitz/ecl.e is now recommended to avoid the shared termcap lib.-Mike
