Hello anyone,My first post here as I'm getting back into the world of Astronomy. I walked away about 10 years after getting my masters. But now I'm returning to my roots and am going the IRAF route for now since its what I used in my Obs Techniques class.Where can I find the current version of tables for cygwin? I tried the links from this guide (http://www.iac.es/sieinvens/siepedia/pmwiki.php?n=HOWTOs.IrafCygwin) and they are now dead. I've looked through this site and the NOAO site and don't see a version for cygwin. I see version 3.9 for other platforms. And I believe that I may have an issue since I was able to install the stsdas package...but I just read that it needs tables to be installed first.Help and guidance would be most appreciated from a guy who mind is full of mush from being in the corporate world for a decade. Thanks,
Brian

I've posted Cygwin binaries for TABLES v3.9 to the downloads area on this site. If needed I could do the same for STSDAS v3.9 but would need to build them first, just let me know.-Mike

Thanks much Mike! And yes could you please post the update to stsdas. I would think that they would have to be the same version since there is dependencies between the packages.

I'm building the package now and will post them in a few hours when they're done. In reality TABLES hasn't been changing much, using TABLES v3.9 with and older STSDAS shouldn't be a problem, but look for the newer binaries later today.-Mike

thanks much for the support.i hate being a problem child, but two more questions.- do you know if there is anything wrong with the tables39-src.tar.gz? I'm getting this when unpacking.
./lib/tbtables/cfitsio/scalnull.c
./lib/tbtables/cfitsio/cfitsio.tex
./lib/tbtables/cfitsio/makefile.bc
./lib/tbtables/cfitsio/fitsio.docgzip: stdin: unexpected end of file
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now- and since i installed an older version of stsdas, do i need to do anything besides update the extern.pkg with the new task definition and helpdb? (and of course install tables before stsdas)

The tables src file does appear to be corrupted, and different from the one you can download from STScI today. In any case, I've updated the tarball to the newer version.Once you've unpacked the source and binaries for stsdas, just update the extern.pkg file to complete the installation. There may be some scripts that requires TABLES tasks, but the primary dependency on TABLES is when building STSDAS from sources and you need the libraries.-Mike
