Dear all,I just now installed IRAF 2.14 on my Fedora 9 computer. I tried X11IRAF but it doesn't support 16-bit color depth, so I turned to DS9. I grabbed DS9 from Fedora repository ("yum install ds9") but the ds9 failed to start:% ds9
Error in startup script: invalid command name "blt::graph"
while executing
"blt::graph $ds9(main).horz -title {} -width $canvas(width) -height $graph(size) -takefocus 0 -bd 0 -relief flat -rightmargin $graph(gap,x) -leftm..."
(procedure "CreateGraphs" line 7)
invoked from within
"CreateGraphs"
(file "/usr/share/ds9/src/ds9.tcl" line 1514)Am I missing something?--
EDIT: Added "solved" to topic title.

'blt' is a Tcl extension used by DS9 but might need to be installed separately if you're using yum. I don't know specifically what you need to do to install it however, maybe just "yum install blt"???-Mike

It is possible that this is not a bug in DS9, but Fedora's blt library or even the tcl runtime. Using SAO's pre-compiled binary <http://hea-www.harvard.edu/saord/download/ds9/linux/ds9.linux.5.2.tar.gz> works fine so far.

Hi, I'm the fedora ds9 maintainer. Fedora 9 has moved to tcl/tk 8.5 and blt is not working with this version. SAO's precompilled binary includes its custom versions of tcl/tk 8.4, blt, tkimg etc. and it's unaffected.Please referr to this bug report:

The problem with blt seems to be fixed and an update package will hit the servers in a week or so. For the impatient, the packages under testing can be found here:
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/F9/pending/blt-2.4-28.z.fc9
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/F9/pending/ds9-5.2-2.fc9Please comment in the update page whether the package works or not
