I'm having a problem getting x11iraf to install. On a Dell optiplex 745, running RedHat CentOS 5.1.I installed IRAF 2.14. It starts up and everything.
(Haven't done stsdas etc yet). But I haven't been able
to get x11iraf to function. I downloaded the binaries
(x11iraf-v1.3-bin.redhat.tar.gz), and I went through
the install procedure. The system said everything
was hunky-dory. But it didn't work.When I tried to launch an xgterm it responded:or ximtool:>ximtool: relocation error: ximtool: symbol errno,
>version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file
>libc.so.6 with link time reference.So, clearly, something was not quite exactly right.
I decided to download the source, and build from
there. I grabbed x11iraf-v1.3-src.tar.gz, unpacked
it in the x11iraf subdirectory, and followed the
make instructions. When I went to do the install,
it aborted:>Installing new binaries in /usr/local/bin . . . foreach:
>No match.And, sure enough, there are no binaries in the local
x11iraf/bin There are a number of library errors in the Make
output chatter, but I am sufficiently out of my
depth that I can't tell what the underlying problem
is. Anyone got any ideas, or had any similar
experiences?Many thanks.

On my way out just now....Try the binaries at https://iraf.net/ftp/iraf/x11iraf/x11iraf-v1.5DEV-bin.redhat.tar.gzThe sources in there should also build but this was a snapshot release so maybe not. Anyway, these binaries work on CentOS 5 system here with no problems.-Mike
