Hello,I am interested in installing the nfextern package on Cygwin. Because I could not find precompiled cygwin binaries at the NOAO repository (ftp://iraf.noao.edu/pub/valdes/nfextern/), I have been trying to compile the package for cygwin from source. Unfortunately, I have not been successful. I find that many tasks, including the newfirm.combine task, exit with this error:[quote:5593cfa6bf]ERROR: Cannot open connected subprocess (./x_combine.e)[/quote:5593cfa6bf]Furthermore, during compilation with the mkpkg command, these errors (among others) were returned:
[quote:5593cfa6bf]collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
Warning, mkpkg line 14: module `mscdisplay' not found or returned error
Warning, mkpkg line 7: module `relink' not found or returned error
warning: library `libpkg.a' not found[/quote:5593cfa6bf]
From these errors, can anyone identify what my problem might be? Is there any more information I can provide?Alternatively, are there any cygwin precompiled binaries available for nfextern? Should I expect any to be made available? Thanks, sandn

I updated the FTP archive you mentioned with pre-built Cygwin binaries that should get you going, just unpack in the /iraf/extern/nfextern directory. Frank may also choose to comment on this package.Cheers,
-Mike
