I just installed iraf on windows. Everything is ok except when I'm using imexam, the irafterm window doesn't pop up. Here is what is shown on the terminal:server # XGTERM.GUI -- Default GUI for Xgterm, providing a standard graphics terminal
# emulation.reset-server
appInitialize irafterm IRAFterm{
IRAFterm.objects: toplevel Gterm gterm
*allowShellResize: true
*gterm.warpCursor: true
*gterm.raiseWindow: true
*gterm.deiconifyWindow: true
}
creatObjects
send gterm setGterm
activate
(then a bunch of unrecognized characters)[/img]

This normally means you're running an XTerm window (or perhaps just the cygwin shell window, which cannot be used for graphics), but IRAF thinks you're using an XGterm. You can either install X11IRAF and run the XGterm, or simply reset the terminal type to xterm. For the latter, you can rerun MKIRAF and reply 'xtermjh' when prompted for the terminal type, or at the CL prompt do[code:1:a7555b3bc1]cl> stty xtermjh
cl> gflush[/code:1:a7555b3bc1]The 'xtermjh' does a better job of putting the status line output on the text window than the default 'xterm' setting (I should really just change the default).Cheers,
-Mike
