Hi,I'm having some difficulty displaying fits files properly from iraf to ds9.For various reasons I had to reinstall leopard on my mac this weekend. I updated to 10.5.2 then did the latest X11 patch (2.1.4). I then put on Scisoft 2007.11.1 and dragged over the same ds9 (5.1 beta) from my backup drive. Since I had Scisoft 2007.11.1 before, I typed mkiraf in my iraf folder, but then dragged over my uparm and login.cl file from my backup. So, although it's "new" it should all be the same. Yet, when I display a fits file, I get something that looks like this: http://www.thewehners.net/astro/images/ds9_error.gifWhen I open the file in ds9 alone, using the menu options, it looks normal.Has anyone else experienced this disconnect b/t iraf and ds9? Any suggestions? Thanks very much.Elizabeth

It looks as if the pixels are wrapping around in the frame buffer. What is the image size and what stdimage value are you using. Commands like[code:1:e42d5cd51a]
cl> display dev$pix 1
cl> display myimage.fits 1 fill+
[/code:1:e42d5cd51a]I would expect to work because dev$pix is a 512x512 image the same as the default frame buffer, and in the second case the image is scaled to fit whatever the frame buffer size is.My guess is the problem is a missing /usr/local/lib/imtoolrc file (which is a link to or a copy of dev$imtoolrc, you can also put this in your unix login directory as '.imtoolrc" to find it.). A restart of DS9 will be required to use the new file.-Mike
