I know that one can use the "z" command in IMEXAMINE to generate a grid of 10x10 pixel values, but is there a way to do the same thing with a specified grid size (say, 20x20 or something else)? What I am trying to do is plot one-dimensional surface brightness profiles of various objects. So, I want to average over the horizontal rows over the width of each object and plot it -- and be able to compare this plot with others. So, either be able to plot in same window, or better yet, have the data printed out/saved so it can be plotted using a different program. Thanks for any advice!

LISTPIX on an image section will kinda do what 'z' does, however if you want to maintain the actual grid to maintain the rows you'll need to write a script to format it. The default will be a list of (x,y,value) for each pixel.-Mike
